GreenBlue®, Charlottesville, VA, a non-profit organization developed to equip businesses with the science and resources to make products more sustainable, has recently released a suite of reports that provides technical guidance on how to design packaging to be compatible with common recovery methods. Specific areas covered include adhesives, foil and metalized paper, inks, overprint varnishes, coatings and multi-laminate cartons. According to FSEA Executive Director Jeff Peterson, “The Foil & Specialty Effects Association believes the GreenBlue report to be the most accurate source published on the sustainability of metalized finished products and more to date, supported by precise data relating to the processes our constituents perform.” |

Pira International, Surrey, UK, a third party research firm, was commissioned by the Foil & Specialty Effects Association (FSEA) to conduct the study and produce the findings, which have been compiled in a 11-page study. Along with the findings, the study describes the pulping and screening methods used in the research, and provides a complete analysis of the reporting results from the testing methods.
